Mugs

I am looking forward to making more mugs this year! I throw my forms using porcelain clay. I chose porcelain because I enjoy the smoothness and the way that glazes pop. I often carve into the form to create texture and detail using dental tools. When I first started to learn to throw my walls were all thicker than I wanted and so I started carving in order to remove some weight. I grew to love the deep texture. Now on occasion I will purposely make my walls extra thick so that I can carve deep ridges!
